home a month today

this picture is pretty indicative of their personalities thus far. saida is WIDE OPEN. she seems to feel and get everything so intensely which fortunately for us includes her good moods. she's gotten 3 new teeth in the last few weeks. she likes blowing spit bubbles, stealing toys from her sister, drooling, and sweet potatoes. hilina is such a mushball - she just wants to be snuggled and tickled and read to (actually they both love that). she likes staring at her hand, grabbing her foot, looking out the window, and when we dance. her first tooth is about to break through in the next days.

Awww...there's my girls! They look like they are growing, even in just the short while since I was there. I miss snuggling them, can't wait to hold them again. Smooch their tummies for me. Love, Ash

Ben and Anna, I'm a friend of Matt, Jerah, Farron...Farron gave me the link to your site, and I just wanted to let you know I've been lurking about. Ralph and I are just starting paperwork to adopt via Wide Horizons' Ethiopia program. Your girls are BEAUTIFUL and it's so encouraging for us to see how happy they look. (Ben, I met you at M&J's house--we talked about an NYU job). Just wanted to let you know I've been weeping at the beautiful photos and finding hope through your journey. CONGRATS!!

That's hilarious. I love that first picture! Yeah, the bald spot on the back is probably just from lying on her back a lot and moving her head around so much that it wears all the hair away. Too many things to look at! You could give her more tummy time, or more bumbo time, but it'll grow back on its own once she's older and up and around more...

hey! where are your girls from again? i saw a wonderful documentary on ethiopia yesterday at the Quad called A Walk to Beautiful (have a post about it on my blog) and there was a baby home featured near the end maybe in an area call Tigray (not sure that's right), but it sounded familiar....wondered if that was one of your girls' regions...

a walk to beautiful is showing at the Quad on W. 13th (right off 5th ave). not sure how long it will be showings. it's only 1 hr 25 mins. so worth it. one of the women featured was from gondor (sp?)...i def. remember that.
